The Prospective Caregiver Information Session provides general information on the onboarding process for becoming an approved caregiver. You will also learn about how children enter foster care, laws that guide the Foster Care and Adoption programs and services that support children in care and Foster, Adoptive and Kinship families. This session will also provide helpful guidance on forming a successful partnership with the Division of Family and Children Services or one of our contracted Child Placing Agencies.

How to advocate for your child in court:
Understanding our child welfare court system is the first step in knowing how to best advocate for your child in court. We will learn the laws, logistics, and practices for a dependency case in court. Then we will explore the best times, ways, and strategies to advocate for a child within that court system.

Learn the basic principles and best practices when transitioning a displaced or abandoned child into belonging in your family. Often times these children haven't been taught how to communicate or that their voice matters. We will cover what to expect and what a child expects with or without awareness and how to effectively honor the beauty of personality differences.
