The Prospective Caregiver Information Session provides general information on the onboarding process for becoming an approved caregiver. You will also learn about how children enter foster care, laws that guide the Foster Care and Adoption programs and services that support children in care and Foster, Adoptive and Kinship families. This session will also provide helpful guidance on forming a successful partnership with the Division of Family and Children Services or one of our contracted Child Placing Agencies.

U.S. Surgeon General declared a national youth mental health crisis in December 2021. Suicide is the first leading cause of death for youth ages 10-15 and the second leading cause of death for individuals 10-24. It is timely and critical to gain a greater understanding around youth suicide, explore ways to prevent this increase in youth suicide and identify resources that support youth suicide prevention.

Navigating the transition to adolescents and young adults.
Continuing to create open dialogue as children mature and develop their own voices is a muscle that caregivers may want to strengthen as early as possible. In this workshop, we'll discuss how communication changes as youth become more self-aware and how to support that development with a healthy dialogue.
