An Ethical and Interactive Workshop on Teaching Foster Parents how to Avoid Compassion Fatigue, Burnout and Secondary Trauma by Promoting Self-Care and Wellness
What is self-care? It is the practice of taking action to preserve or improve one's own mental health. Self-care is typically one of those things that people do not pay attention to until they are on the verge of being stressed out or burned out. Research suggest that people in the helping field should be even more intentional about their self-care because they have more vulnerabilities to stress. Stress unchecked can have deleterious effects on an individual. This workshop will give training participants an overview of the importance of self-care and how it can negatively impact their well-being. Training participants will also learn techniques on how to implement better self-care practice so that they can be for themselves and others.
