Building Self Esteem- Part II (For Adolescents) - Webinar
–
April 11, 2019This webinar will focus on understanding ways to engage adolescents in conversations and activities to help determine their current levels of self-esteem. In addition, the webinar will provide effective interventions to help caregivers support adolescents while they are working through the challenges of "finding themselves" and determining their unique identity and place in the world. During this developmental time frame, many adolescents suffer from increased anxiety and/or depression which may cause a decline in self-worth. Therefore, this webinar will also provide a variety of effective coping skills to help adolescents begin to manage their thoughts and feelings to help decrease their negative mindset and further define a positive self-image.

April 16, 2019 – April 17, 2019Sex and relationships are an important part of adolescent development and can influence youth outcomes. In order to make healthy and responsible decisions, young people need support from the adults in their lives. However, adults and caregivers frequently feel ill prepared to initiate these conversations. Some adults and caregivers are afraid they will share too much or not enough, while others believe if they give information children will experiment prematurely. The good news for foster parents, caregivers, and case managers is that there is a lot you can do to positively influence adolescents’ decisions about these topics. As invested community members, this training will also educate participants on the research related to Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children (CSEC) (child sex trafficking), victimization statistics in Georgia, and will prepare participants to spread awareness and teach others.Georgia’s Personal Responsibility Education Program (GA-PREP) is pleased to host a series of 2-day trainings designed to help adults become “Connected Caregivers”. These trainings have been designed specifically for foster parents, CCI and CPA caregivers, and case managers.
